Sculpture idea

Experimentation!

I tried to stop the printing ideas as I thought this is a 3D topic let's try and do some 3D. I decided I wanted to create Acteaon but as he is transforming from man to animal.

I wanted to build of the manikin with wire and have larger over the top parts coming from him. I wanted them all to be apart of him but I didn't want them to connect I wanted them to be able to taken off and worn each section.
Here I experimented with one coat plaster and scrim over wire. It was obviously pretty heavy and not really the best idea to be worn. But I did really like the rough texture it gave out. I left it rough with parts of the scrim still visible and dripping off it almost to give it that transformation vibe. The last photo is inside the sculpture where you can see the wire and how it was built.

For the other shoulder I first used the plaster and wire as I had before but afterwards I added the fine plaster that is much smoother and whiter. Although I do like this plaster I felt it wasn't what I wanted for this piece. I much preferred the rough off white of the one coat plaster. The final image is a close up of the fine plaster as I tried to leave it rough but still didn't give the same effect.

In the end although I originally liked the idea I decided it just wasn't for me. I much preferred doing the prints so that led me to abandon this idea and go back to the drawing board going a long the lines of prints again.
